There’s no shortage of announcements of new sports betting partnerships across the country. These partnerships offer industry leaders the opportunity to team up and form mutually beneficial relationships. These aren’t simply one-off deals, but massive portfolios of overlapping and complementary relationships. DraftKings, for example, is one of the leading players in the industry and has signed a series of deals and strengthened its presence across multiple states.
The first state to launch a sports betting market was Iowa, which legalized the activity in August of 2019. Other states took six months to a year before launching a sports betting market. The state’s Governor Kim Reynolds signed SF 617 in January. It is now open to bet on most sports, including football, basketball, and baseball.
The Arizona Diamondbacks, based in Phoenix since 1998, are the state’s only MLB team. They won the World Series in 2001 in their fourth season, which is a record in MLB history. The team has partnered with Caesars Sportsbook to provide its fans with a convenient sports betting experience. The company even has a retail location at Chase Field. This allows fans to place wagers on MLB games in Arizona.
The Arizona Department of Gaming’s Division of Racing oversees horse racing betting. The law permits wagering at racetracks and in certain off-track locations. In addition, there are rules regarding advance-deposit betting. Arizona’s official sports betting market has 18 legal online sportsbooks.
